Był też atak frontalny, czyli cała czwórka wiosłowych prezentująca się dumne w jednej linii (gdzie oni wciąż kupują tak obcisłe spodnie?). Nie mogło zabraknąć również niezawodnego podkręcania publiczności - "scream for me Polska, scream for me Warsawa" grzmiał Dickinson (Bruce nie do końca opanował wymowę nazwy naszej stolicy, ale i tak go kochamy). A tłum? Jak to na stadionie - co lepsza akcja (w tym przypadku piosenka), odpowiadał wrzawą.

Entuzjazm fanów nie powinien dziwić chociażby z uwagi na dobrany repertuar. Oczywiście w przypadku takiego dorobku, jaki posiada Iron Maiden, nie można zadowolić wszystkich, ale tym bardziej nie można nazbyt narzekać, skoro pojawiły się klasyki "Aces High", "2 Minutes to Midnight" czy mocarny "The Trooper" z przepięknym "OoOooOooo" w wykonaniu publiczności, która nie zawiodła też, recytując chóralnie wstęp do "The Number of the Beast". Usłyszeliśmy ponadto "porażającą dwójkę" czyli "Run to the Hills", po którym nastąpiło "Fear Of The Dark". Najbardziej zagorzałych miłośników na pewno ucieszyła z kolei perełka w postaci "Rime of the Ancient Mariner". Na bis wybrzmiało "Moonchild", "The Clairvoyant" i "Hallowed Be Thy Name". A na rozchodne, już płyty, co by metalowa gawiedź mogła sobie pogwizdać, przeciskając się do wyjścia obok TOI TOI-ów, poleciało tradycyjnie "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" z dorobku Monty Pythona.

Koncert Iron Maiden to niemniej nie tylko muzyka. Piekielne dźwięki dopełniały płomienie i zimne ognie. Wrażenia uzupełniał również wystrój sceny, chociażby gigantyczny złoty sfinks, z którego wyłonił się... Eddie. Tym razem jako nieco sfatygowana mumia.

Bruce-jubilat może już nie zawsze ma głos jak dzwon, ale nadrabiał odjazdowymi spodniami, charyzmą i konferansjerka. Mówił dużo i ciepło o Polsce. O koncertach sprzed lat i o tych, na które się do naszego kraju dopiero będą wybierać (tak, kapela już myśli o kolejnym tournée ). Po tym czwartkowym występie pewnie będzie wspominał nas jeszcze milej, szczególnie po odśpiewanym mu z okazji 50. urodzin "100 lat".

A my już czekamy na ten obiecany ze sceny następny show, który ma się odbyć po wydaniu nowej studyjnej płyty. Up The Irons!

Tak! Byłam na tym koncercie. Było Zarąbiście. Umówiłam się z kumplami pod ZT, przy HRD. Oczywiście za oryginalni to my nie byliśmy. Masa metali w bluzkach IRON MAIDEN. Radocha i to ogromna. Pojechaliśmy pod stadion i Tam poznałam Łysego, Dominika, Flisa, Marysie.

Oczywiście jako Support wyszła Lauren, córka Harrisa. Boże, czekałam tylko aż ona sobie pójdzie. Nienawidzę jej :/ Była straszna X| Później pojawiło się Made of Hate. Oni byli zarąbisci xD Na nich zaczeł ojuż nam odwalać i Dominka wzieliśmy na fale xD Pogo też było. Mnie miel iteż wziąść na fale ale w ostatniech chwil idostałam pietra ;p Ogólnie było naprawdę super :) A tu Filmik, mojego autorstwa. Marny ale zawsze coś. spiewamy sto lat Bruce'owi :)

I've also been pounding the streets of Seoul this week. It's really not a difficult city to figure out. There's tourist maps everywhere and most place-names are given in English. The one downfall of Seoul (of Korea as a whole) is the rarity of street names. None are marked on maps and very few are marked at the actual location. There are small local exceptions, where "gil" (lane) and a number is used to divide areas. So, in Insadong, you have "Insadong 5-gil" i.e. the 5th lane in Insadong. Of course, that's not much use unless you know  where to begin counting. Buildings are also problematic. They are numbered in order of completion, not by location. In Ireland, Numbers 27, 28, and 29 are all beside each other. In Korea, it's not unusual to have 26, 52, 18 or any other random combination.

Once you get over this though, it's not too bad. Important buildings are well sign-posted, that's the #1 way of finding your way around. I get lost a lot but never in a scary way. Half of the prettiest and most interesting things I've found have been by accident! I'll whip out the photos again now, beginning with two that I should have posted in the last blog about the COEX mall, but I forgot to.

<- Look at the shop I found near the COEX mall! A shop named after Gackt! His surname is Camui...maybe he owns it! I REALLY wanted to buy something there. Imagine having Gackt-brand clothes - even better than Miyavi hakama! But the clothes in the shop were ugly and expensive so I didn't buy anything....yet...

<- This was my haul of CDs and idol magazines. Probably the most beautiful picture of the trip so far.

<- This is a building with a hole in it that I found on Wednesday. Imagine being on the top part! This was the beginning of my ramble around the area where all the aristocrats used to live. The old palaces are here and it's packed with upmarket galleries and museums etc. Unfortunately it's also packed with hills. For some reason EVERY road was uphill! I nearly died from sunstroke/exhaustion/hunger/thirst because I couldn't find a damn ATM!

<- I was following directions in my guidebook which told me to "carry on until the old Joseon era watch-tower". I spent aaaaages walking and was furiously reading the book for more info. Then I looked up and it was right in front of me. I felt like such an idiot!

<-The colours didn't come out well at all. This tower is right beside the palace I was at last week, so if you go back and look at the green and red paint work on those buildings, you'll appreciate this better.

<- A normal building...that happens to have an ancient Buddhist temple on the third floor.

 <- This is the sign outside the Seoul Selection bookshop telling you the distances to various cities. The shop is crap. NO IDOL MAGAZINES! Grrr.

<- A good example of how fashion designers today are trying to modernise the hanbok. I love it, it was absolutely gorgeous.

<- I popped in and said hi to Martin's friends for a while

 <- I walked past the outside of the palace I went to last week. Seeing as how I was too blind to appreciate it then, I tried to make the most of it now. I really liked this area of Seoul. There were loads of hot policemen in fabulous uniforms!

 <-This is part of the presidential residence. Technically everywhere outside the wall you can see in the photo is a public zone. However, the place was SWARMING with police and army (including one on roller blades! I really wanted a photo!). I didn't hang around too long as I was the only civilian. I was stopped and questioned once but I did my best cute and harmless face and was let off!

<- More of the residence. It looks lovely from the outside, I wish I could go in!

<- This isn't an important place, I just thought it looked nice. I also wanted to show the police that I was a tourist and not a North Korean assassin by taking as many photos as possible!

 <- I spent the next  hours dying in the heat and finally ended up back in Insadong. Then I spent ages finding an ATM and a restaurant, but FINALLY I had lovely big dumplings in soup with a free kettle of miso soup! I treated myself to my first bottle of soju and the whole bill was about €6. Seriously. Now, about soju. The taste is similar to sake, but the level of alcohol is not. This bottle left me reeling for the best part of 4 hours! I was an idiot to drink it when I was alone in a strange city, but I wasn't expecting it to be that strong! Fortunately I managed not to hurt myself or break anything in the shops....I am a very conscientious drunk :)

<- I was trying to capture the atmosphere of Insadong at night... I half-succeeded. It's a little bit more...magical than this. Damn delicious soju!

We have just started an intensive mass media promotion of our latest album entitled “Transkarpatia”.  So accordingly we have recently not been complaining on the lack of activities and for me this very interview has been the third one today.(laugh) We have been also preparing for the concerts which we will start to play already at the end of April. We will appear in Germany, Czech Republik, Slovakia and probably also in Italy. In the second half of the year, we plan bigger european tour. It is almost certain that in December we will go on the travelling X - mass festival together with such bands as : Six Feet Under, Gorefest, Krisiun, God Dethroned and Cataract. I am very glad and excited with the thought as what follows is the fact that we will appear in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Holand and France.There are also some subsequent compositions coming into being and they will appear on “Transkarpatia”’s succesor. It is highly probable that still this year we would want to record our new album.

A boring one yet it can be helpful for some readers.Could you please give a short introduction of your band to those readers who are not yet familiar with you?

The band was founded in the middle of 90ties and has released five albums so far : “In The Flames Of Black Art”, “In The Opium Of Black Veil”, “Oniriad”, “Semi devilish” and the latest one entitled “Transkarpatia”. “Oniriad” was a musical experiment and has nothing in common with today’s Darzamat’s music. The two first albums which were placed in black metal atmosphere are much closer to the latest album. “Semidevilish” is for the people who love hard sound combined with melody. However, it is undoubtedly “Transkarpatia” that is the most important record for us. Musically speaking for us it is the very direction Darzamat wants to follow, other words - the proper direction. We have finally managed to come to the point in which we were working with the real producer. The album was produced by Andy La Rocque (King Diamond’s guitar player) in his studio “Los Angered Recordings” in Goeteborg. It is a magnificent place and Andy is the amazing man. He is a real professional as well as a very modest and cheerful guy. I believe that what had a large influence on the sound of “Transkarpatia” was not only Andy’s huge knowledge and abilities but the superb atmosphere one felt in his studio as well.

There occured an exact kind of change in the Darzamat,that is for sure.When a band changes their sound, sometimes they loose some fans but also find new ones. Do you think you have gained more fans with the change of your sound or the other way around?

Few years ago, there occured some serious and revolutionary changes in the band. The whole lineup was practically changed. I was the only member from the old lineup that left that is why the stylistic changes were pretty inevitable. Besides, I was loking for new people in order to be able to create the band anew. I wanted Darzamat’s music to look exactly the way it does now from a very long period of time and I am glad that I have finally been able to meet my own expectations.Earlier it was impossible for me to come to any kind of agreement with Simon - the cofounder of the band. We had totally different visions of the band, completely different priorities. We sat down, talked and it turned out that he lost interest in the band and even in the metal music itself. In this situation it was no other option but to separate. I think the last three years prove that this solution was a good one.We have recorded two very good albums “Semidevilish” and “Transkarpatia” as well as we have started playing a lot of concerts. I think that is what it all is about that is why I do not even wonder whether now we have more fans than we used to have in the 90-ties. I totally agree with what You said, namely : the old fans go and some new ones take their place. The band should not and cannot make the music that is imposed on it by the people from the outside. It must emerge from You. it is only then when it is truly sincere and worth anything.

Darzamat have toured with some famous bands like: Cannibal Corpse, Impaled Nazarene, Graveworm, Misery Index etc. Which band are you most of all proud to say that you have toured with and why?

Except from the bands You named, we have played with many other fantastic ones so far. It will suffice when I add : Apocalyptica, Napalm Death, Arcturus, Katatonia, Craddle of Filth, Amon Amarth, Tiamat or Atrocity. These are of course excellent bands and in most cases increadible people as well. However, the band that impressed me the most was the swedish Entombed with which we played on the stadium during the festival in italian Casterta. Yet, it is a really personal matter since when I was 15, I was a huge fan of Entombed! And it so happened that I have never been able to see the guys on stage. It was as late as in Italy that I had the opportunity to see their concert and additionally they shared the stage with us. Later on we drank couple of beers and talked a bit. This trip is the one I reminisce as a very nice one.

Do you have any difficulties touring with bands that play a completely different or even opposite music style of what you play?

We have got no problems with it as nowadays it is practically natural that on tours you meet the bands presenting different kinds of extremal playing. The most important thing is that they all play metal. Fans also do not limit themselves to listening to only one kind. Many people do seek and they accordingly listen to various kinds of music. The most important thing is to give the maximum of yourself during the concerts and not pretend to be somebody you are not. One should be sincere towards other people as well as towards oneself.You see, for example, in December we are going on tour practically with only death metal bands such as : Six Feet Under, Gorefest or Krisiun and I think that it is gonna be ok. We will be a certain alternative for the music presented by the bands.

When someone says “Poland” you can’t help but thinking of bands like Behemoth or Vader whom are probably the most famous Polish bands. But beside these bands There are many great and highly respected underground wulfs like Graveland,Capricornus etc. And please also let me know your own favourite band from your country?

I have got no doubts that Poland is nowadays one of the best developing metal scenes in Europe. More and more bands from our country have been signing contracts with good European record companies, appear in the schedules of the concert tours and festivals not only in our continent but in the States as well.We have got many other fantastic bands. Especially in the most extreme brands of this kind, death and black metal as well as grindcore. One cannot, however, forget about some other bands such as e.g. progressive Riverside.Personally they are my favourites and I think that this band will achieve a lot. One must not also forget about death metal band - Decapitated. It is also an excellent band.

Which member from the band writes the lyrics and what are they mostly about?

Lyrical layer of the band is what I myself together with our vocalist Nera are responsible for.There is no unique maxim by means of which the Darzamat’s message could be classified. It is rather dependant on the concrete number or even the whole album, which touches upon a certain issue. For example the lyrical layer of the latest album ‘ Transkarpatia’  oscillates round pagan issue and magic. The other matters also emphazised are : the Inquisition, vampirism and hatred towards everything the Church could not accept or was even afraid of. Catholic Church in Poland often forces on people the way they should think and act and what is more, it engages in politics too bloody much. According to the Church in our country, people should follow only its rules. It results in people being totally pissed off, the consequence of which is the need of expressing their emotions through the extremal forms of art.

What is the most beautiful thing in life that makes life worth living to you?

The life itself is beautiful and inspiring. One should get off on life’s charms fully yet wisely and it is then when life gives you strength and motivates you to take an action. The possibility of creation and standalone thinking is the energy nobody is able to destroy.

How you can describe your audience, the persons you are writing music to? What thoughts you are trying to bring them?

People who listen to our music are no doubt sensitive and probably a bit similar to us. They are unquestionably and definitely the open-minded people, ones willing to seek. It is important for them not to let anybody tell them what to think and how to feel. The most crusial thing is to stay yourself.

Normally metal music is not very profitable, do you live out of music or have permanent jobs? If yes, then who are you in everyday life?

Each and everyone of us has his/her occupational work. We have got a journalist, salesman from the musical shop and even a teacher in our band. It is all due to the fact that it is very hard to earn the living with the music we perform. I think that one would have to play at least 200 concerts a year to be able to earn one’s living with metal. It is very difficult, indeed and among polish bands there are only two, namely Vader and Behemoth, that can afford it. Yet, everything is possible. You must strongly believe in what you are doing!

Do you have (or any of the Darzamat members) special musical education and how did this come that you became musicians?

Most of us learned the profession by ourselves and I think that we did a pretty god job. Yet, of course there are some musicians among us as well, having the educational base. Such is the case of our keyboard player - Spectre who has finished the musical school. Our new drummer Darkside, has also a musical education, yet from what I know, he did not finish the school (laugh)! Nera - our vocalist- attends vocal classes.How did it happen that we became musicians? I believe that it is due to the willing to create. If you are a young man who has something to pass on, you will undoubtedly cope with all the problems which await you at the beginning of the way. The essential thing here is determination and willingness to learn as well as drawing conclusions from your shortages and imperfections.

Besides your own work – what do you think were the best metal albums of the last few years?

It is hard to find the one and the best. Nowadays there are so many excellent albums coming into being that it is impossible to find only one. I am personally very much impressed with the record of Vital Remains entitled “Dechristianize”. It is thanks to this album that I have believed once more in the strength of death metal. The band that certainly did a good job was Dimmu Borgir on “ Death Cult Armageddon” and “Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia”. I am also very much fond of the latest publishing of Vader entitled “ The Art of War” as well as of Entombed’s “Unreal Estate” and Anorexia Nervosa’s “Redemption Process”.

And the best recent non-metal albums?

What impressed me to quite a big extent is the “Van Helsing”’s sountrack. It was two years ago but I still remain under the big impression of this music.

Are any of you family people? You know, spouse, kids, fido, and the white picket fence etc.?

Fortunately, none of us was involved in such stories. We have got our partners with whom we live, meet and share our spare time, yet, one cannot talk about marriage in here. Personally I am not against the institution of mariage and family. One must, however, remember that in order to be a good and responsible husband or father one is not able to have time in which one could commit oneself to music.

And,related with the previous question;;Are you married? And what kind of effects could marriage have on the creativity of the artist? Have you ever thought of this? It sure one may be more creative when he is alone,yet what about a man married with children!?

The thing is that when you take care of your family, you do not have time on music and the other way round. I have seen the musicians the marriages of whose broke up as they were lured towards the tours and travelling worldwide. At first each of them says that there is no problem, that their girlfriends are very understanding and can take everything. Yet, after the year or two, everything changes and people experience a real nightmare. You know, I really do understand these women as they do not have any kind of benefit from a musician who spends most time of the year being on tours, rehearsals or in studio. In my opinion, the musicians who are not involved in marriages are much more productive. Then they hurt as they are alone and they write the music which is really off the chain (laugh)!

How much time does the band actually spend together – writing, in the studio, or even socially?

For musicians the band is like the second family, often even closer than the real one. It is hard to count the time we spend together on tours, rehearsals or in studio. It practically happens nonstop and it is rather easier to talk about the time when we are not together. We continually meet and talk about our current activities. In such situation when we go out to have a drink, it happens that we go to different places (laugh)! I think that it is pretty “sane” to take a break and have a rest from one another sometimes. In such moments one can distance oneself and look at people differently.

What do you think about changes in the zines creation? I mean changes that are caused because of the computerization and mainly slow decay of the dedicated printed zines. Do you think that the situation will turn round and we will desire xeroxed zines not webzines in the near future?

I remember when I was 15 and together with my friend we would go to the city situated couple of dozens kilometers from our city just to be able to read about metal there. There was a guy there who had the xerocopied zines from all over the world and he made a kind of “metal library” out of it.(laugh)! Metalmen from various places in Poland would come to him and they borrowed the zines for money. One also had to leave deposit in case one did not reappear with the zine from Mexico or Japan. Those were truly excellent times, then getting the acces to the info and to the music was almost a miracle. Accordingly, listening to the music later on had its unique unrepeatable “taste”. It was a certain kind of celebration. I do not, however, believe that it will come back. The world paces forward with its own speed and in my opinion we will sooner have the zines in SMS than we will return to xero (laugh)!

Look forward to the coming of the new Darzamat’s album ‘Transkarpatia’ which will change your thinking connected with climatic metal. It is the record that will do a snow job on the metal scene and it’ll stay in your heads long afterwards. Stay dark!

In September 2004 I started work on newest Graveland album ‘Fire Chariot of Destruction’. This work took me a lot of time...much more I have expected. I was planning to record new Lord Wind album, but unfortunately I have not find time to do it. So the work on new Graveland album took me almost a year but I am very satisfied with the final result. I recorded this album in my home studio but I think I would not prepare better album in a professional recording studio. Well done work is not the only thing that motivates me to further work. Lately I have purchased some new equipment....guitar effect and percussion effect. Now I play on two guitars....one I tune in a standard way and second guitar I tune in my specific way. I played a little on this new equipment and I am very satisfied which means that soon I start work on next Graveland album...again one step ahead...

New Graveland masterpiece ‘Dawn of the Iron Blades’ has already been out ,and i have to admit that it is one the best Graveland albums i have ever listened. A real pagan black metal opus with the unique atmosphere,melodies. So,how ware the reactions to this album so far?

Since ‘Fire of Awakening’ I have tried to maintain harmonized epic Graveland style. I want listeners find on my albums not only spiritual values of pagan world, but also good sound and high technical skills. On ‘Dawn of Iron Blades’ I managed to obtain unique climate and atmosphere. I think Graveland has its own style and it is hard to name it. And I like this situation. How listeners react to this album? I think that not everyone is able to listen to this album, because Graveland is boycotted e.g. due to my anti-Semitic statements. So only those who are very well oriented in underground music, have an opportunity to get Graveland albums. But really good music always comes from underground. Ha…ha…most of the listeners are condemned to music from official distributions. And they think that sweet commercial bands as supreme art! Nothing like that! Power of metal comes from underground. Underground art is always free, not restricted by requirements of commercial market….underground art is uncompromising and courageous…

And,i always know that each Graveland opus has its own character with the greatest inspirations behind its curtains.What was the biggest inspiration for ‘Dawn of the Iron Blades’?With what kind of ‘determinations’ you entered to recording room this time?

Many years ago I started to refer to my own imagination of the culture and beliefs of the Northern people…and especially to German pagan roots. I replaced Odin with Wotan because in the German personification of his God I see the God of war and warriors.  Women warriors Valkieries are essential part of my world of warriors and heroes. The legions of Valkiries next to the Chariot of Wotan come to the battle helping White Beasts of Wotan to win. White Beats of Wotan are warriors who fight for fatherland and freedom of their Folk. Valkirian charges coming down the sky on their winged steeds is a really good inspiration for writing lyrics and playing music. In my music you can hear choirs with male voices (warriors) and female voices (Valkiries). These voices are always present in my Art and they create incredible mystical mood. Also other personalities are present in my world of pagan beliefs and imagination…let me mention The Rhine Maidens…Water nymphs raising the bodies of the warriors who died near to rivers and lakes…the Rhine Maidens listen to the Lady of a Lake…in my creativity I always refer to the world of spirits and ghosts…ghosts of ancestors…spirits of trees, earth, water, wind…the strength of ancient magic that created the whole world. In my lyrics you can read the histories of cult places of ancient pagan religions, ancient beliefs and traditions…pride and honor…values that lead warriors to eternity…Tyrants of Cruelty roam the world leading us to a higher values…sometimes they bring chaos and anxiety to your world of peace and blissful vegetation…all that matter so far is not important anymore…you leave your former life behind and you follow them through the fire and the ravages of war…ready to die in next battle…Tyrants of Cruelty know your soul…they know how to wake the war beast in you…war wolf who is not afraid to fight against all…In my pagan world there are too categories of enemies: one fight deceitfully with falsehood and betrayal…poisonous and false ideology is their weapon; the second category of my enemies - they come for Hades, the beasts of darkness and black skin barbarian tribes of night…as packs of hungry and greedy orks they invade your lands killing and destroying all you love…In my world the warrior does not protect the weak…because according to the Wotanists law, the weak should try to become stronger by themselves and then they should take care of themselves without any help. Now that alive than ever before is the Graveland to spread its pest to make ecclesiastic lies decay.What are your general opinions about nowadays ecclesiastical world -be it about any religion-?For you,Is ecclesiastic decaying day by day or is it becoming stronger?Especially after some recent conflicts,wars?

Christianity is one of the biggest plague of ancient and contemporary world. Religions have been at the bottom of all the biggest wars and slaughters in the human history.  Christianity, Islam, Hebraism…they are all the same. They have the same roots…they are connected in a triangle of hatred and death…our world suffers for hundreds of years because of “redemptive” activity of this triangle of hatred. Vile and the suffering of the ‘unfaithful’ are their sustenance. They create chaos…suffering instead of love and war instead of peace. In the place of freedom they offer false ideology that enslaves people. I have always referred to ancient pagan beliefs of our forefathers. My ancestors worshiped Gods of our lands long before the triangle of hatred invaded us. Our ancestors had their own traditions and this pagan culture that let hem live in harmony with the Nature. Christianity invading Northern lands brought falsehood and betrayal…hatred and war. Later Christianity divided into Catholics, Protestants and Orthodox Church. These faction have been fighting against one another stopping the evolution and developments of a White Man….their religious wars plunged Europe into chaos and darkness…today Christianity tries to whitewash its past and put on a cover of mercy and peace. But this is only an illusion. Our world will be ravaged by religious wars again….Christians claim that they brought the enlightenment and technical and civilization progress….they claim that native pagan beliefs are the source of ignorance and backwardness in all aspects of our life. It is one of the biggest lie!!! Look at Japan. Japan is one of the biggest world superpower and Japanese still have their own pagan religion Shinto….other religions tried to invade and dominate Japan but fortunately they failed. Many Japanese people are Buddhists but Buddhism is not a part of a triangle of hatred. Today I see “redemptive” influence of Christianity in Africa…as Africa in thrown into chaos, poverty and hundreds of local slaughters….oh, I see redemptive influence of Christianity. Some African researchers accuse Christianity of causing the explosion of AIDS epidemic in Africa….they prove that AIDS has appeared in Africa many years ago but native traditions and customs stopped the explosion of AIDS epidemic. But under of influence of Christian missions, lifestyle of Africans has changed…new beliefs and customs replaced old customs bringing chaos…lack of proper values caused escalation of rapes, violence, sexual dissipation that caused AIDS epidemic….

Lets take Iraq war for example,did that feed the  hearts of Christians ,and make them to elect Bush again?Is Christianity or any other ecclesiastical wing becoming stronger?

 It is not easy for me to answer this question because  in Poland only few Muslims,  we do not have big Muslim society so we do now have problems with them. But I have the same attitude to Christianity and Islam…they are the same for me. Religious conflict is the worst thing you can be drawn into. So we should be very careful not to let anyone draw us into any religious conflict. Because these who try to engage us in this conflict, have their own interest…money and power. They do not care about us. Today mass media alert us to Islam danger, Pope tries to fuel pro-Christian moods saying that Christianity is the only power that can stop Islam!!! Many people could make huge money on this war selling weapon to both sides as it was during IWW and IIWW. I do not believe in any information mass media provide. As the result the society is stupefied by the primitive propaganda and the government has no problems with manipulating the society. In Poland when the Pope died the governments announced national mourning…and then I felt as I lived in Iran…religious fanaticism, superstition and ignorance emerged with such a strength that I was terrified as I realized that I live in such a country… An escalation of Islam terrorism and fight of people who die in suicide missions for ideas they believe….if I did not the history of armed conflicts in the Middle East….if I did not know the politics of USA, Israel and some European countries…I would blame these Islam terrorists of bringing violence and danger…but in my opinion Islam terrorists are the product of the politics of Western countries towards Middle East countries…the Middle East countries plunge into decay because of sickness called Israel…USA and Europe desire Middle East natural resources…democracy, freedom and Western high level of civilization are only the cover of the true aim that is the seizing of the natural resources Western countries cannot exist. On such ground we can expect growing number of terrorists which Bin Laden gives meaning of their lives and meaning of dying in fight for the right thing…

Many blames Graveland for being right-wing supporter or labeling you as anti-semitist.It has been like this for several years and i know you also fed up with these...So,what can you say about this kind of rumors?

My political convictions reflect events taking place in our world. I do not blame Jews for being Jews but for their deeds. I am not going to hide my political convictions in order to increase selling of my albums. If I see that something is going wrong, I criticize this situation and I do not care if I criticize a Jew or a Christian. Many people do not like my style of being because my statements and evaluation of some situations shatter their peace and their well-ordered life mostly based on spending time in blissful sleeping…they do not accept me because I tell them to think. I devaluate their consumerist problems and shallow cultural experiences and I direct attention to crucial problems of our world. But these people do not want to see the real problems of our world. They prefer to live in their blissful ignorance. They prefer to be lied to. this is sick…but our society is sick! I am labelled a  Nazi, anti-Semite, racist…this way very can very easily identify me as a problem, troubles, intolerance, hatred…but I am not their problem…these who lie to them - these are their problem. My words and my artistic work do not cause world conflicts …my words do not cause death of thousands of people…Rules of contemporary Western countries are based on warped and faded values…all made is the name of money that is the highest value…freedom and democracy are not important…the society plunged in ignorance is used to produce and consume…the real happiness of the society is not important. A man exists to produce and to consume. Contemporary culture, art and religion show the society the pleasure and appropriateness of consumerism. Race mixing is very important factor in this play. Racially mixed society is more stupid and easier to manipulate. There is no place for revolt and individual thinking. People deprived of their roots and history, separated from their native traditions and beliefs become vain and idle. So I just fight for my individual freedom and I work unwaveringly toward my goal…nothing can stop me…that is the way I am.

Moreover,may i take your fine ideas about todays modern black metal scene which dwells far away from the ideological,heathenistic approach?Hell of bands whose only aims are  nothing but more money and more female flesh!

It is very old problem...there have always been artists creating for Art and artists creating for money and fame. And they have always been in conflict, hating and criticizing one another. But as everybody knows there is an audience needing higher values and deep spiritual experiences and there is also a primitive audience needing just fun and entertainment…they need fun and fulfillment of empty fancies and vanity. Unfortunately this primitive audience is a majority…they reproduce faster giving life to another empty and primitive individuals. Pop music is based on sex and makes the biggest money. Pop BM makes the same but with different image…. But in fact there in no difference between them.

What kind of books have you been reading lately?Besides the classics,Are you into modern literature as well?

I do not have really too much time to read. But when I read I prefer classic literature. I am not into modern literature at all. I do not have time for it.  But I watch many movies. I love old Japanese epic samurai movies. I also watch Japanese horror movies and Chinese and Korean movies. American movies fill me with disgust.

What kind of utopias you have in your mind about the earths future?It may on Europe’s or US’ …Will be the nations blended or will the deeper differences occur between people in the future?

I am sure we will have to deal with new world wide conflicts…wars for natural resources. Society consist mostly of primitive people…when they have no fuel to drive their cars they would do anything to get it…they will agree for any war. All today fucking chit-chats about freedom, brotherhood, help for Africa, democracy, equality - all will be erased in one day…for fuel…all these mass media heroes, defenders of human rights and refugees will support war…and this is the falsehood of contemporary world. War in Iraq let us see true faces of some people…we should remember them and do not support them in the elections! Unfortunately many economists and market analysts say that humanity will wage war for fuel and natural resources soon. We have so many vehicles that need huge amount of fuel in the world. More and more people have cars…China market is growing in  unimaginable speed…they pr duce and consume….more and more…USA and Europe made first steps to assure some fuel resources invading Iraq and Afghanistan. But I am not sure if this plan succeed.

What do you think about ‘fanaticism’ in Black metal?Isnt it fuel for the heathen individuals  while creating the unholy arts?

When you are young you always have radical ideas...you see only black and white...and nothing else. Everything is easy. If something is not with you, it means it is against you… but it is very important time when people grow up. Most of them betray their radical ideas and become the part of a system. Some people are faithful to their youthful ideas and let them triumph in a creative self-development. Our creativity help young people to find the aim of their lives…find the way to perfection that makes them stronger. This is our success...great success.... fanaticism is not important here at all. Because these fanatics mostly are the most stupid and they first change their ideas and religious beliefs. Fanaticism is another façade that covers weak people…so why should we care about them….???

This is a quatation from one the your interviews ; ‘Once in the supermarket, I saw a notebook. And imagine what was on the cover of this notebook…the picture of a strong standing black male and white female sitting on the floor staring at him with admiration…she was looking at him as he was a divine… imagine what young girls think when they sit at school and see such picture?!’’ How can you expand your quoted definition ?

Black sexually very attractive male and white greedy for sexual experiences female - this model is emphasized in mass media - advertising, music, movies, books, magazines, newspapers... even on the covers on notebooks for kids!!! It is an obvious action of propaganda spread in Western countries. The effects of this mass propaganda are terrible for a White society. Women are easy to manipulate...some well -thought-out- methods of social engineering let them astray...White women get married to no-White men…and it is the beginning of their problems…Some White women are so stupid that they think that hanging about with Black men makes them trendy and emancipated. They think so because they were told that hanging about with Blacks is cool. These masters of propaganda who spread such shitty lifestyle do not care about the happiness of these women. They aspire to destroy the culture of a White Man…to deprive us of the strength that comes from the purity of our blood. MTV and VIVA are the hotbed of moral corruption…I just hope that one day they will vanish into thin air in the atomic cloud…to the joy of spirits of our forefathers…

What are your opinions about ‘censorships’?Be it in music or in any other walks of live?Therefore,Isn’t it necessary to put some limitations while trying to improve the human race,may be we should mention about self-disiplin here…

Censorship is a wide topic and we could talk about it for many hours....censorship has its good and bad sides...it depends on our ideas. World without censorship could not properly function…it would disappear in the abyss of chaos. But sometimes censorship is too strong and it is not good because it limits rebellious aims of some people…and world needs rebellious ideas to function properly. Censors must be very wise people to tell false and destructive ideas to good ideas…some rebellious ideas are very good for the society as a whole and although some radical acts cause development and the progress of civilization. But when censors are the puppets in the government hands or they are religious fanatics, we can forget about the progress of civilization. Censors always want more and more  entitlements and powers. We, as a society, should control censorship. Otherwise censorship deprives us of our freedom. Equilibrium is very important. Some time ago I started to censor my art by myself. It is a kind of auto-censorship. I want to avoid confrontation and repressions from the government and police from my country. I am trying not to give them any pretext to attack me and my creativity. And for some years I have not had any problems with the police and secret services. I am faithful to some cannons and ideas but the police cannot find a way to attack me. Besides in today’s Europe people think a little bit different. I think that people are tried of the problems of immigrants and non-White people and Africa. Europeans seem to be bored with mass media propaganda of holocaust and homosexuals. I think that good times for Graveland are coming…..

Well, that's why I wasn't here or there for a while, but I am back...

People cast him semi-amused, semi-bemused glances. People scooted over to make room for new passengers and accommodate the hobo's strange whim. Since he was lying just across the doorway, people carefully stepped aside so as not to disturb him. And he was just lying there, flaunting his strange freedom. It wasn't even that he enjoyed the others' discomfort, as a matter of fact, he probably didn't even notice. But living in the streets shows you how threadbare the social and cultural do's and dont's really are. You transgress one, you may just as well transgress all of them - who cares now that you've hit the rock bottom? This is the heart of the odd liberation whose armor is tattered clothing and layers of dirt, sweat, and blood,  encrusting the homeless body.

See, living in the streets by itself goes against the grain of the society. Rummage through a garbage can at a bus stop and you'll notice people strolling casually to the other side. Get an afternoon catnap on a park bench and you may wake up to the stern faces of a police patrol. The odor of alcohol and/or of a body unwashed for weeks is an additional repellent. And to think you have once been like these people who now look away from you - well-fed, in clean clothes, rushing home after work to families who have not turned them out. It's easy to become embittered, jeering, cynical. It's easy to push the boundaries of social behavior - after all, you've pushed so many of them that one more wouldn't hurt.

It all matters so little now anyway...

Well, that's why I wasn't here for a while, but I am back...

Jan Mokrzycki, head of the federation, explains why they lodged the complaint:

"Poles seem to be unable to please the Daily Mail whatever they do.

"On one day you get a headline 'Poles flood into England' implying the country is drowning in immigrants, and the next day you get 'Poles desert England' as if we are abandoning them.

"Poles are not totally innocent, no society is totally innocent, and if a Pole does something wrong then he or she should have to face the music.

"But when you get a series of articles and none of the headlines shed a positive light, and all shed a negative light by using this sort of terminology then it is fair to say we can complain about bias."

This media bias, or hysteria more accurately, about immigration and Eastern Europeans is something we've drawn attention to several times on this site and on our leaflets.

Following negotiations the Daily Mail have printed an article from Wiktor Moszczynski the press officer of the Federation of Poles in Great Britain which might count as some sort of apology:

Older readers of the Daily Mail will be aware that here has been a sizeable Polish community in this country since World War Two when Polish forces fought alongside British servicemen against the Nazi threat.

Since then, an estimated one million Polish citizens have arrived in the UK after European Union expansion in 2004, mostly to work.

They have made a significant contribution to both the Polish and British economies.

According to the National Bank of Poland, about £4 billion is sent each year by Polish workers in the UK to their families at home. However – according to the National Institute of Economic and Social Research – the Polish workforce alone has contributed £12 billion to the British economy between 2004 and 2006.

We have all heard about the cheap Polish plumbers and seen the smiling Polish waitresses and shop assistants.

Poles have helped to revive British agriculture (especially in Scotland, Wales and Lincolnshire) and to boost, until earlier this year, the recent house-building boom in this country.

Unfortunately many were exploited as they struggled to obtain the legal minimum wage and basic employment rights.

At the other end of the economic scale, thousands of entrepreneurs have now set up their own businesses, while others can be found in responsible positions in the NHS, social services, accountancy and banking.

According to Piotr Grzeszkiewicz, director of recruitment agency Sara-Int, the Polish workforce contributes about £1.9 billion a year to the British exchequer in income tax and national insurance, not including council tax.

Poles are integrating well into the British way of life, especially if they are setting up families here. Of course we are aware that their presence has impacted considerably on the resources of local councils, schools and health trusts, but much of this is covered by tax contributions.

The Federation of Poles in Great Britain has been concerned about newspaper coverage which has sought to emphasise negative aspects of the Polish presence in the UK.

In our view, the worst examples linked Poles with words and phrases like “feckless”, “chancers”, “race riots”, “swamp the NHS”, “fears for schools”, “cut-price treatment”, “push British graduates to back of the jobs queue”, “killers, drug smugglers and rapists”. We consider that this has made Poles living in the UK feel vulnerable and persecuted.

Some might argue that these robust headlines were aimed more at the British Government, its immigration policy and at the European Union. Fair enough.

This implies therefore that Poles came into the firing line not because they were Poles but because they were the most visible symbol of those government policies that the Daily Mail has criticised.

The Federation remains critical however of the lack of reliable national and local government statistics on the number and impact of Poles in this country.

We maintain that Poles have felt humiliated by the coverage and are vulnerable to numerous acts of overt hostility and even violence which they have experienced from a vociferous minority of UK citizens.

There have been hundreds of cases of hate crime against Poles in this country recorded in the last 2 years, some leading to death or permanent injury, and we would not want these incidents to be encouraged by potentially inflammatory newspaper stories or headlines.

In some ways the heat is off now. A good proportion of Poles have either already returned or are planning to do so soon as the Polish economy improves and the Polish currency almost doubles in value against sterling.

There is now more concern in the press and economic circles about the impact of their departure rather than of their arrival. Nevertheless a significant number are here and will continue to be here for some years. The need for sensitive reporting and sensitive headlines remains.
